Breaking in a new 2017 Road Glide Special
 

I just purchased a new Road Glide Special, what is the recommended break in method for this engine ?

Try reading the Owners Manual and find out!

Ive been told on this forum that Amsoil is the best oil, and to break in a new bike.....ride it like you stole it, and fix it till it's broke.

+ reading the manual, but if you google it, you'll get some info. LOL.

Just ride it like owners manual says. There is no secret, no magic, no special break in .
Just a lot of hype and BS.
If that fails just pay someone $500 to break it in on the dyno , that is one of the newer scams

I haven't picked it up yet. Wednesday, weather permitting. No manual available as of yet, online, that I could find. My concern was a long highway ride home after pick up. So , I was just asking. I've heard different methods and was hoping to get some advice. Thanks...

Since you have not picked your bike up yet,why not ask the Dealership what they recommend before starting your trip home. Of course you could always take a peek at the owners manual upon delivery.

Very the speed avoid hard acceleration. Long ride home is not an issue. Heck my 2013 was dropped off for the 1000 mile service the same day I purchased it. It is just not a major life issue some try to make it.
Over the years there has been the 60-30-60, the 60-90 -60 ,and so on, the change the oil every 100 mile plan none of them are any better than just go for a normal ride and mix it up. You will have the owners manual in your hand when you get the bike it will take you a minute to read the break in part.
Enjoy you new ride, When you can't ride post some pictures of it, don't worry about the BS.

Just ride like you would normally ride. Keep your rpm's under 3K. If you are on long runs vary your speed. Also be easy on your brakes for the first 300 miles. Try not to do any hard breaking. This is all in your books when you get them. Congrats on an awesome ride.
