Heated grip install complete! This is NOT for the faint of heart. HA! I did take a few pics and made some notes to hopefully help the next person who attempts this install. Took the better part of a day but if I were to do it again, I think I could cut that in half at least. I will post a new thread with a few pics so it will be searchable in the archives. On the Roadglide for sure, you will need to go to HD and pick up a couple wire terminals to do the job but the "Accessory wire kit" is not needed. At least not the way I did it. I ran the bike for 5-6 mins with the grips on 6 (highest they would go), and they did warm up to a decent temp. Hoping that 10-15 mins they will get nice and toasty.

Well started this project this morning..Figured if nothing else I would get everything done that I was pretty sure of..Well got the grips installed, the wire pulled to the bottom of the bars no real issues. Went to plug the Lt/clutch grip in to the connector under the gauges and naturally the fitting on the new grip wire is wrong. They give you the correct one but those great directions say nothing about it. Now I just have to run the 3 wires either under the tank or wait for B00001 to tell me where he hooked them up to...also what parts did you have to pick up at the dealer?

I will be interested to see how your routing of the grip Power Wires goes. The 3 wires off the side of the grip once you button up the left side switch housings...Fun.

Yea..I can see that..I actually hooked everything up yesterday but just ran the wires to the 3 wire connector under the seat until I remove the tank or you tell me where you hooked up at and show me a couple pics? Did you take off your inner fairing to hook up the power wires? I have everything pretty much ready to take off the tank which I plan on doing tomorrow but again sorta wanting to see how you did it. I will say this..man they get toasty pretty quick..

Thread with pics up. Interesting that you say your's got pretty toasty. Mine did get warm, but not SUPER hot. I only ran mine maybe 6 mins or so though. Or, maybe it is that you are going straight off battery and I am going off the P&A plug? We'll see once I get a longer ride on them to really test them out. Still over 70 degrees here.

Mine get a lot hotter when the engine is running.... more volts. Anything over 3 is uncomfortable (stock heated grips).

Good to know. Thanks. May be able to get out on a little ride today to give them some more time to warm up.

I'm confused with the grip interconnect. Why not just plug the grips in together where they come out of the bars?

I posted an ongoing thread in the Rushmore section. Doing Wild1 chubby's Reapers with HD heated grips and urethane bushings on a 14 RK. I am posting just the issues that I run into or think is important. Wild1 I wouldn't have to extend any wires with 12" reapers, maybe so on the RG but the RK you have to get at least 4 inch switch harness extensions. That is where I am at right now. I am going to be connecting the rest of the wires with solder or butt connectors this weekend, then odds and ends until my extensions come in.
