Default 6.5 inch speaker question

Just curious. I know that adding an amp to the stock speaker system will improve the sound dramatically on the stock set up. Has anyone JUST added aftermarket speakers to their bike? Is there a noticeable difference to make just adding the speakers worth the cost. Yes I know its really a subjective question, but I am looking for an opinion.

I haven't but I have read a few posts where folks did exactly that and were not impressed. It seems the amp is needed to really have a decent sound with volume.

Im perfectly satisfied with the stock setup. I do not need crisp, quality sound to be happy with listening to music. I have found that my stereo sounds better when I wear earplugs. With the wind noise reduced, I can hear the stereo much better.

They would need to be 2 ohm speakers and if down the line you wanted to ad an amp, you are very limited to amps.... personally I would be looking to ad speakers and amp if wanting to improve sound volume, and there are so many options that will improve not only volume but quality as well

Absolutely true! I know it is counter-intuitive, but the music sounds much clearer while wearing earplugs, even while wearing a helmet. Just be aware that your volume is probably a bit higher than normal...something to keep in mind while at stoplights and/or cruising into your neighborhood at night!
