The 2-1 is going to produce the best performance, if tuned properly and that's with any configuration head pipe/slipon combo. the order is 2-1, 2-1-2 and then true dual's for performance

D&D 2-1. If properly tuned. My buddy just installed this setup. Sounds really awesome. Surprisingly not too loud, but a deep rumble. Remember no cat, so check on warranty. Please do not start another warrenty comment here!! Just a note, warranty topic beaten to death.

Depending on the mufflers being used and the specific engine combination performance is pretty close between the two. A 2/1/2 pipe is essentially a 2/1 with more tuned length after the collector. The main benefit of a conventional 2/1 is they generally have longer primaries for making low-mid RPM power, another consideration is it is very easy "over exhaust" on a 2/1/2 system with baffles that are excessively large which will affect power considerably, especially at low RPM. Both work really well overall.
