2 Weeks In with New 2017 Road King

It is acceptable to do your own. You cannot be denied warranty coverage for doing your own maint. your owners manual has the complete list of what is supposed to be checked. It consist of a list of Check and inspect with replace the oil in the Pri/Tran/Eng. Just log it in the owners manual in the provided log that you did it. While you do not have to save the receipts for the oil, I usually do.
thanks firebolter!

I staple the receipt for the oil and filter in the owners manual. The first change is about the only one I use Harley oil for. The only item I can't do is check the brake fluid for moisture content. I'll visually inspect it, but I doubt it's gone bad in a week.

Bone jarring bumps
Believe it or not what I found is tire pressure makes a big difference in ride softness, more so than shock adjustments. I couldn't figure out why my bike (2017 RK) had become softer riding quickly after I bought it. I checked the tire pressure and found that the rear tire pressure was down to 32lbs. Filled it back to 40lbs and felt the difference immediately. Was losing about a pound of air pressure per day and could tell when I got below 38psi just by the ride.
It's amazing what a nail in the rear tire and having to add air every couple of days taught me. It took me almost a month to figure out why I was losing air, I was just about to take it back to the dealer to have them figure out why I was losing air when I saw the brad nail - so I replaced the tire.
If I want a softer ride I lower the pressure to about 38psi cold - makes a difference. I got to tell you that at 32psi it felt Cadillac soft but I won't do that again, at least not on purpose.

thanks for the reply. I have actually turned the shocks down to 0 with no relief. I weigh 170 lbs. im guessing I'm light for the typical rider. May have to go with softer shocks down the road if these don't ease up.
Its not better with my wife wife on the back - she waits a whopping 105. Might need to try increasing the number up to 10. Maybe if it's too low, the shock is actually bottoming out all the time. Not sure. I'll play with it more. But it's awesome fun riding. Oh. I also put a smoked windsplitter windscreen on it. Looks great. I'll try to post a pic.
