I know these bikes have fuel injection and are supposed to compensate for temp and altitude but mine high idols when the temps are Idaho cold in the winter but it doesn’t last to long.

But I have let it idle long enough to get to full operating temperature today and it was +30 deg F.

It started at 2000 for a couple seconds, then dropped down to 1200, but it never went below 1200, except for momentary fluctuations that went from 1050 to 1250.

I am wondering if this is just a break-in period setting ???
weird, bet it behaves differently and as designed when ridden for to full operating temps..is EITMS enabled? it will idle around 1000 rpms when enabled..anyway, I wouldn't draw any conclusions until you surpass .7 miles on the ODO anyway. congrats on the great new bike choice!

Update: Yesterday I warmed up my bike and it wouldn't get below 1400rpm, when it surpassed full operating temp (ambient air temp was 20 deg C) I tried revving it up by bliping the throttle and holding the engine at 3000 for a few seconds, the result was a faster idle, 1700 rpm, and it wouldn't slow down.

I enabled and disabled the EITMS, that made no difference. Also, sorry, but I meant 7 miles, not .7

Anyway, with sunshine, 31 degrees and almost no wind, the streets here cleared up enough to ride, as long as effort was made to avoid water, ice, sand and inconsiderate people driving through the puddles kicking up the water.

I put a little over 12 miles on today, around mile 2 the idle dropped down to 850-900rpm. Everything is good. I like this rpm, it has a real nice rumble.

My 17 RGS jumps to 2400 when started in temps under 50. It settles done in a short time to 1200 then when fully warmed up about 980 to 1K.

It is stage I and is supposed to idle at 950 when at operating temp.

A stock 107 is set to 850 and when brand new and not run in it is easy to stall without careful clutch slipping and adding throttle.

I dont like to see that much rpm on a freshly started motor on a cold day. Thats a lot of strain on the engine. Cant be good on the gaskets either. Even in my cars I like to make sure thet the oil is getting to the critical engine parts before I put any pressure on the motor.

I believe it's a combination of the Compression Release closing & the Cold Start Up settings that cause the initial High RPM's... My 2013 Ultra did it & now my 2017 CVO...

I had the same problem today with a startup idle of 2000 RPM's and dropping too 1200 RPM's. I realize this will bring a smile on a few faces as it was chilly here in S. Florida about 70 degrees and windy. I brought my 2017 Limited too the local dealer too access the problem. The service manager checked out the bike and advised that I must have shut off the bike with the idle high as the ECM remembers the RPM's when I shut it off. He stated the correction is too cycle the ignition off and on four times too reset the system. It worked when I got it back, it was idling at about 950 RPM's. Good luck!

M8 cranks nice and free with a lot less stress on the comp compared to TC.
As long as the oil light goes off after she lights don't worry about it.

With all the sensors and computers on these bikes sometimes a reset or clear DTC codes is in order. Normal like restarting your computer or cell phone. If same codes keep showing up then you need to find the cause of the problem.
