M8 Build
My bikes last 6 numbers are: 649429 Build date: 02/17 ours are both in the 600,000 Build number range But, Built 7 months apart? (This is what seems strange to me).
Something just doesn't look right with the Build Numbers and the Build Dates. A few members have build numbers in the 900,000 range yet were built in 10/16 or 11/16.
Either they are built in 2 different places or... HD is Holding some bikes for a while and letting later builds go on out to their perspective Dealerships. (guessing)

I bought my 2017 Street Glide Special last October, so it's definitely one of the early ones. At about 2,000 miles the oil light started coming on so I took it to the dealer. They said they couldn't reproduce the error. They called the factory and were told to replace the oil pump. The Dealer Service Manager told me that there was a problem with the first oil pumps but Harley fixed it early on. I've put another 1,500 miles on the bike and haven't had any issues since.

2nd Milwaukee 8 Rebuild
Purchased my Road Glide Special in October 2016. Had a Stage III Kit installed, right out the gate. After bumping it up to a Screamin Eagle 114, it had to be rebuilt after 2200 miles. Rear cylinder bypass, oil valley plugged. The engine was rebuilt, oil pan and cooler replaced. Since then I had it overheat on me during a hot commute home. We'll see... This is a brand new engine design, I knew this. Not too surprised. The dealer was trying to avoid a manufacturers battle regarding Amsoil I had them put in, so we switched back to Syn3 for the sake of argument (BS!) but what#@*ever. Made it from Austin to Houston on pretty much one cylinder and was still passing up traffic on the freeways. Strong motor! She got me home.
