Default Fuel gauge

ok I'm probably going to sound like an idiot for asking this but her goes anyway. On my new streetglide when I want to gas up I thought if I left the ignition on while the bike is off I could watch the fuel gauge go up instead of trying to look down the hole while it's filling. I use to be able to do this on my old 98 Dyna. Is this not possible now?

I wouldn't trust the gauge. They're notoriously inaccurate. Keep doing that and you'll have an over-flow of 91 octane gas all over everything! Better to trust your sight and your hearing as to when it's getting close to full.

Sorry I cant answer the question as I have never used the fuel gauge when filling up to know when it is full easier for me just to look into the tank and know when its full

I think I know what's happening. I have a 2014 Limited. I always turn the bike OFF before fueling. What I have noticed is that I can fill the bike up and then start it up, and the gas gauge will not move. I have even tried letting the bike idle, on the jiffy stand, for about one minute and the gauge still doesn't move. For some reason, that I don't know, the gauge does not register the new fuel level until the bike is upright.

Thanks, I'm not relying on it for the complete fill just nice to know when it's getting close. No big deal.

I guess you could try sitting on the bike, with the key on, while filling it up. See if that works.

Don't work that way any more. The fuel gauge and R calc don't reset till you start the bike.
