What is it about the Dunlops that folks don't care for? Stiffness, poor handling???

I put Progressive Suspension 944 Series Ultra-Low Shocks 944-4001UL on my 2014 Ultra and I also put their fork kit up front. The bike is lower but the ride is so stiff it feels like I do not have shocks on the bike at all. When I hit a high spot on the road it feels like I'm gonna be launched off the bike. I tried adjusting a number of times but it changes nothing! I'm hesitant to buy another expensive "solution"...these days reviews aren't much help. :-(

I also bought a set of Michelin Commander IIs ($322 set) and they are a HUGE HUGE difference from the Dunlop HD puts on their bikes new. I will never use another Dunlop tire!

Not 100% sure as I like them but have you ever stood on the sidewall of an unmounted one? They are stiff. Good if you get a flat and need to make it to the side of the road (happened to me) but can make them ride rougher. As the wheel diameters have gotten larger the aspect ratio has gotten flatter reducing side wall which also doesn't help.

Both, put a set of Michelins on your bike and you will see, I won't ever have donlops on anything I drive including cars/trucks, anyone that would make something that poor don't get my money.

I think the OEM 402/407 combo are fine on the taller aspect ratio Touring bikes, but I swapped for the Dunlop American Elites at replacement time and will do so again, and again..Dunlop makes great tires..they rule Motocross not that it matters, but they are a quality tire....they did stiffen them up with the MT rear versions for longer center tread wear a few years back

I'll probably switch to Michelin tires in 10k miles or so when it's time for a tire change.

I picked up my rebuilt King from the dealer today and road it home, 90 miles through rain, thunderstorms, wind, fog, 55F. And those OEM Dunlops are worthless.

I've run the MC II and switched backed to the American Elite, there are many that prefer the AE's to the MC II, Im one of the them.

I agree my RK rides real nice and I'm very happy with it.

I may give the American Elite a try next. I'm looking for a little more performance handling tire than a longevity tire. Plus I like the fact Dunlops are made in USA.
