Default Milwaukee 8 Road King Exhaust

Hi All,

Yesterday I put the down payment on a new M8 Road King and if all goes well will have the bike this weekend.

In speaking with the folks at the dealer they tell me that with the new motors you can't just put slip ons on but you need to change the air cleaner and do the stage 1 download and tune the bike.

Anyone know if this is true?? Was hoping to just install slip ons and then later do the full stage one upgrade.

Installing a set of slip should not hurt your bike. But HD is being real strict on mods in large part due to the EPA fine and threats if caught again. Adding HD's Pro Street tuner and letting it tune are not that difficult. Then you don't have future problems with HD and warranty issues if any arise. I added Street Cannons and the ventilator with the Pro Street Tuner. Doing it all myself was an afternoon with 1 hour for the Pro Street tuner.

Ride the bike and do the breakin miles first. My son bought a SGS as soon as they came out and after a few hundred miles his exhaust actually sounded damn good stock. When it was brand new it was as quite as a Goldwing.

I am picking up a new SGS on Sunday...slip-ons don't really need a retune. I will probably ride it stock until I figure it out although I may do the Bassani slip-ons just to get me through.
