Sound Clips - '17 RGS w/True Duals, Slip-ons, A/C & Tune
On another thread I posted a short audio clip of my '17 RGS at idle, after I installed Bassani Down Under True Duals, DNA slip-ons, an Arlen Ness Naked Monster Sucker A/C and a custom downloaded tune from Fuel Moto via Power Vision II.
I'm reposting it along with 2 additional clips; 1) a take off from start and 2) a drive by at cruising speed.
There's not a lot available out there audio wise on modded exhausts on the M8, so I thought it worth posting. Hopefully I can get them to post using my crappy iPhone, and hopefully it's beneficial.

yeah .. just checked em out.. still sounds pretty bad ***.
I think I may go Rinehart Slimlines to go with my Rinehart slip ons.
Definitely a better sound.. but still doesn't have that lower end grunt yours has that I love..
May go with a different head pipe.. I think the woods cam will def help with that Harley lope sound I love so much
love your bike..

My buddy has the Slimline and Rinehart slip-ons and it does sound great, no denying that. I was just looking for all the depth and rumble, but with more rawness than they afford.
In the above video clips I'm going relatively easy throttle wise so as to be respectful of my girlfriend's neighbors and not startle my girlfriend's or her neighbors' farm animals. When I get on it though, it can crank out some serious decibels. Hmmm, maybe that's the next set of clips I should do, to show the contrast?
You're right, there's no mistaking the sound of a performance cam with the changes in sound due to the lift variances. And I'd jump to do it, but I think it's worth me giving the M8 with stock internals a season to show me what it can do before I change anything. Maybe next year I'll do a cam once I see what options are there to address whatever hopes I may then have for performance mods.
I have another buddy who just two weeks ago picked up a '17 CVO SG. Before he even took delivery he had a ton of work done by the dealer; exhaust, A/C, cam, tune, you name it. It's his money and his bike, but it just seems like a waste to me when he has absolutely nothing to compare it to as it relates to stock performance of the CVO M8. You're putting miles on yours, so you know what it will and won't do, and what you want and don't want, so your changes have purpose.
Either way, good luck.

Oh all right, if I must. As you can tell, it doesn't take much arm twisting to get me to twist my throttle!
So I'm posting 4 clips here. #1 is a decent medium open throttled take off. It's followed by a medium open throttled cruise by during acceleration while going through some gears. After that I have a couple of low/medium speed cruise by's (I did a retake after I found myself behind a car at a snail's pace during the first one). I thought the variances in speed and having to let off the throttle a bit was worth keeping them both for whatever benefit they may serve, plus you get a sense of how far away you can actually hear the bike before you can see in. Enjoy!
