so, in regards to the 1000k mile gape service, cant we just do it ourselves, or will this cause warranty issues with the MOCO?

You can't be denied warranty coverage if service is not done by a dealer. You can do your service, just document it. Date, mileage, what was done etc. While I have read you don't need to keep receipts to show you purchased oil/filters etc., it doesn't hurt.

That's what I will do, did the same on my Street glide. I am not giving the stealer 500.00 for a fluid change. Thanks for the confirmation

Just checked mine tonight...

SGS
6 months old.
2,300 miles.
1,000 mile service done by dealer.
Nov 16 build date.

It looks to be at the full mark, though is a little difficult to check accurately.
Used a piece of white paper to roll it on.

I normally shift at 3,000 - 3,500 rpm.
I've run it up to 90-100 here and there (4,000+ rpm), but never for
more than 10-15 secs.

Nothing to complain about yet, but
will continue to monitor.

I appreciate this forum for bringing it to my attention.

Bringing my bike to the dealer today. HD Germany isn't believing what I'm saying, so they asked the dealer to replace trans and primary with the correct amount and then I have to return after 1000km. Then they'll check if any trans oil got into the primary.
The picture shows the amount of excessive primary oil I found after approx 1500km.

the picture shows a tub with some oil in it, which exactly represents what? you say "shows the amount of excessive primary oil"..which would mean to me it ran your tranny dry..is that what you are trying to tell us, that without pulling the drain plug and just removing the derby cover the amount in the tub is the overflow? and the markings represent normal and the high mark?.....hmmmmmm

Yes, exactly. Bike standing upright this is the amount that sipped out until it stopped. Approx. 0,2 - 0,3l, which is the amount that was missing in the trans.

can you tell us what rpm ranges you were riding in the "approx 1500km" it took for this to occur? when I originally posted my observation it was 1500 miles of riding it really hard for much of the time, quite a bit of 4-5K rpm's, and I was concerned because it was only just a matter of a few ounces that transferred..nothing close to what you are indicating..I only posted because I didn't expect the tranny to have dropped at all..was just a random curious level check that surprised me
