again, can someone reiterate,

1oz. reflects how much distance on the dipstick?

My 2018 has not been ridden. At all. Upright and ambient temperature it is right at the top of the A

Before adding, or subtracting any fluids I would like to know what is a relative amount of loss per the dipstick

Put Ann oz in it and see how much it raises it.

This is going to be a related question but not really on the topic of oil migration. It is sorta relevant in my getting ready to keep an eye on this with my bike though...

My 2018 Ultra Limited is sitting nicely in my heated garage sitting upright on my maintenance dolly that I used for my 1999 Ultra. Over the weekend I was going to check my transmission fluid levels (only 47 miles on it from a brief ride in December when the temps went to 40 degrees). I perused my manual and discovered that the bike is supposed to be on the Jiffy Stand now for the check? I know this is a fairly lame question but when did this change occur?

I do not feel like taking it off the dolly now so I will do the check when it is off for the new season (probably in March) but this was a surprise. Was this something started for the new transmission for the M8 in 2017 or was this started with the 6 speed a long time ago?

I'm not sure honestly. When I had my 5000 miles service, and they knew to check for the trans/primary levels, they asked how I was checking the trans level. I said per the manual which says on the kick stand and not hot.

They said you should be checking it upright. SO not sure even they or the manual knows how to check fluid levels.

not really sure, never paid much attention to my Twin cam trans fluid levels because the few times over the years I did it was a non issue..one thing I noticed with our 17 RK and Freewheeler is, after changing fluids and swapping the identical dipsticks back and forth I could not tell a difference between upright or on jiffy stand for the levels..so where it's at on yours right now is probably where it will register when you put it on the jiffy

Hot or cold,on jiffy stand or upright,I cannot see enough of a visual difference on the dip stick to matter.

1 oz. is approx. 1/16" on the trans dipstick.

The distance from add to full is approx. 3-4 ounces.

When I change my oil the bike is upright. I fill to the full mark upright. Then when I remove the bike from the lift table I'll recheck the trans oil level on the sidestand. I have found that it takes 1 1/2 ounces to return the level to the full mark.

Essentially what this means is when checking your trans oil level upright the level should show slightly over full (approx. 1/16 - 3/32" on the dipstick).
