I have a 17 RGS 107 and a 18 Fat Bob S 114.
The are the best H-Ds that I have ever ridden. And I've had most of them.
Oh! By the way they are engineered to not start in gear. Should not do that anyway. But if you must just apply the brake and it will override the safety feature.

but they do, and then they don't, etc...so is it a design flaw that they start in gear when they were engineered not to....scratching my head here..wife's trike must have the brake applied, but it's her 3rd clutch housing and my RK is on #2..that's a pile of intended engineering working as designed right thar' !

I've enjoyed my M8 sooooooo much, but now I want to go home and see if my bike starts in gear and then get mad if it does.....or if it doesn't.....and go get it fixed under warranty. Shoot, I don't care if it does or not because I only start mine in neutral. Uggggggggh........don't go home and check, don't go home and check, DO NOT GO HOME AND CHECK. lol
On a funnier note, I was talking with the service advisor about all the M8 issues reported on the forum and he laughed and said .....man, we get so many internet ppl who bring their perfectly riding M8 in here to get something checked that isn't wrong and it's as if they want to have the issue they read on the internet.

Love mine !
I have a new 18 Road King M8 and just love it !
I have had over 30 motorcycles since 1970 and my first HD a 1978 1/2 FLH.
From Honda's, Kawasaki's, Yamaha's, and Harley Davidson.
At our age, my wife and I were hanging up or jackets. Had a 2013 Honda F6B for 3 years and sold it in the process.
Few months went by, and we missed riding so, we bought the Road King M8.
Just love this bike ! Gave us a new lease on riding.
Just now have a little over 1,800 miles and absolutely no problems.

I bought my ‘18 Deluxe last Dec; of course, the weather here turned to garbage immediately afterwards, and I've only begun to put miles out it over the last few weeks.
Overall, I’m impressed. The bike rides super smooth. I will say that I do like the way the bike sounds (it’s bone stock at the moment), but it really is pretty quiet. I have SE SC slip ons waiting to be installed for free by my dealer along with a Stage 1, so I’m hoping it will be slightly louder after my 1000 maintenance.
The only thing I need to do is adjust the shift lever up a bit, and I’d like a thinner seat that lowers me a little.

I started riding when bikes were simple to fix, and needed repair fairly often. Now I'm interested in bikes (M8) that are statistically reliable, but potentially impossible to fix.
I am fairly old, and have zero tolerance for drama.
At the present time, I would not buy a M8 bike. Personal choice.
