Yeah you guys might say I'm crazy, but honestly I dont care about more HP/TQ. Not at this time anyway. And I dont have 5k or more to put into it either. I'm strictly after better idle sound.

You might not care, but you asked how to get the sound - we're telling you.....the only way to do it is to go beyond Stage 1, otherwise it'll sound as it does now.

I agree with the others. Stage II, decat the header, and 4.5" slip-ons with a hot rod tune, and I think you'll find what you're looking for.

I tried it all, and was not happy until I did the above. Now, I couldn't be happier!!

Absolutely. You want more sound, you have to pump up the volume.

What can I do to make the idle exhaust note sound better/louder? I realize the newer bikes are EFI and I'll never get that old school harley sound, but there are other things that can be done, yes?

I'm considering the stage 1 air/tuner upgrade. Will this significantly improve the idle sound? I dont have the budget yet for any motor work like cams and such, so just wondering if just the stage 1 upgrade with help.

I'd like to keep the S&S slip ons, but could consider adding headers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Trade it in a leftover 2016

I don't understand how a Stage II would give deeper sound. Especially an EPA compliant cam will only give minimal lope.

IMHO..put on slip ons, and be done with it.

It's only EPA compliant when tuned with an EPA compliant Tuner. The difference between my bike's sound and a M8 with just Rineharts is night and day.....louder, deeper and absolutely with a camy lope.

Maybe go to a bike night and try to find a M8 with a full Stage 2 (header done too) and you'll hear the difference for yourself.

Stage II with CAT. Cast this video to something with decent speakers.

Get a shovel or well tuned Evo if you really care about sound.
