I believe the M8 is a 10:1 CR, that's kinda high for a stock turbo application of anything over 8 psi without ignition or fuel correction.
My buddy runs a turbo on his 2011 Road Glide, been on it for a few years now and NO problems whatsoever, he told me that when he upgrades to M8 the first thing he is fitting is a turbo. It pulls like a train when he gets on it, either 1 or 2 up it doesn't make any difference, he reckons its putting out about 140 hp on a otherwise stock motor.
So if its done right its a very good reliable upgrade, why do you think all car manufacturers are going this route.
