There was an AFR table posted here awhile back that showed that down low the M8 Tune was the same lean target AFR HD has always shot for. The interesting bit was the AFR at cruise speeds. It was super rich.

I've always kept them stock for the 1st 1000 miles, any manufacturing defects are likely to show up within that mileage. After that I do what I want and let the chips fall. Never needed warranty repairs, never bought an ESP. I'm way ahead of the game riding bikes with the mods I want.

This is not new just very public now. I had a friend with a twincam roadking break on the way to Sturgis. Regional rep happened to be visiting that store and saw he had stage 1 and voided the powertrain on the spot. He brought it home in a truck. Mike

Do not confuse the factory warranty with a warranty issued by a dealer that does work. To different things.
If you buy a new m8 and have a 114 upgrade done by dealer full factory warranty good to go it meets all EPA requirements .
Take into dealer and make a back room deal add this and that use this tuner ect. You may well get a dealer warranty but it will not be a factory warranty.
Also dealers have for good reason played lose with the old one off loop hole. EPA has pretty much slammed most of that one closed. Dealer could find them self in deep fines down the road.
JJ got his but nailed in CA over that one that is why he is in TX now and he is covering his ***.
Before the EPA attack on HD we had the MF act. Pretty much as long as your mods did not cause the problem it did not madder warranty was still in effect. Dealer knew that they had no problem putting what ever pipes you wanted on. Knowing full well that was not going to be an issue. The EPA came down on HD and that is no longer a protection you can fall back on.

If you meant to say MM Act, for Magnuson Moss Act, that ONLY affects OEM spec parts. As soon as you add a performance enhancing part, the MM act no longer applies...

Any exhaust that does not meet EPA requirements, or doesn't match OEM specs, is a performance enhancing part. It is covered under the HD Limited Warranty; "Exclusions #4" & "Other Limitations #4". MoCo has always had the option to void any warranty claim when any performance enhancing parts are used (including their own). They just never seemed to care much before.

While the decree may have tightened up the warranty claim process, it only involves engines tuned with non-EPA approved tuners / tunes...

Dealer can tell anything and They would likely stand by their work, but no other dealer would. Is it worth it IMO no. M8 runs pretty darn good right off the floor.
The consent decree was Harley's wildest wet dream come true......The chance to void warranties (and not pay for repairs=money in the shareholder pocket), and blame the government for being FORCED to do it......

YMMV

1. No one
2. Very few

Its ALL Internet hysteria tens of thousands of bikes on the road and we still look for the one who gets warranty denied.
Oh, they are out there, just like ANY product but when they are, I am sure there is more then a good reason to deny.

The non warranty problem issue is far worse then an motor oil thread because the warranty issue doesnt exist, at least motor oil does!

Its not Harley Davidson bring out theses issues The EPA is forcing theses emission laws they came after HD Gia them a big fine. If you alter the emissions in any way on these M8s your more then likely screwed it that way with any vehicle we buy now a days. Harley's in the market an one leaders in selling loud pipes and upgrade kits time are changing.
