Maybe I am wrong, but I saw something about the 2018 models being released at the annual AIME show this year in September. Didn't Harley used to bring out the new models at Sturgis. I know I got my M8 in August 2016 which was clearly before the AIME. They did say that this will be Harleys first year at the show.

Not that I am interested in trading my 17 in (god the wife would go completely nuts if I did), but I do like seeing the latest and greatest. I wonder if Harley is going to update the infotainment system. Indians version of the infotainment system is head and shoulders above the Harley system at this point.

 

New bike introduction is in a few weeks at the dealer meeting in Los Angeles this year. When you look up the information on AIME list of exhibitors it is listed as the local HD dealership, so one would assume they are just going to have some of there inventory there on display.

 

ok it may have been at the dealer meeting last year. I know about a week after they were introduced, they were in the dealers hands last year. I could have sworn they showed new models at Sturgis in the past. could be wrong however.

 

New models are introduced at the Harley dealer meeting first. That's the week of August 21st. New bikes start shipping a week earlier in an attempt to arrive at dealers within a few days of the announcement.

 

In 2014 when the new Road Glide for 2015 was rumored it was debuted at Sturgis. When they were going to the fly by wire in 2008 it debuted at Sturgis 2007. It may not be advertised, but it wouldn't be a big surprise if the 2018 models were displayed at Sturgis. I wasn't there last year so I don't know if the M8 was being shown or not.

In 2014 they were not at the HD tent either. There was another exhibit behind one of the bars on Main St. I'm not saying they'll do it this year, just that previously they did.

 

If you have a chance, test ride the new 18 Yamaha Venture. Would love hearing from someone that rode one. They are offering test ride at Sturgis.

 

I believe the earliest we will see a sneak peak of the 2018 lineup will be sometime after midnight on the 24th of Aug, 2017. Watch the MOCO website for pictures and propaganda. My local dealer has promised to have some in the showroom on the 26 of August. Remember what Gust said: "We will see".
