The new Yamaha is going to have forward and reverse powered by electricity when in neutral, now that is a feature!!!! I have to watch what angle the bike will be parked to make sure I can get out.
For a serious answer, you can add an aftermarket reverse gear.
Baker and Yelvington are out there, and others. Too expensive for me.
Look for a reverse gear in a low something from Harley, maybe soon.
I had a 2013 FLTRU, been riding for 47 years. Backing up a 900 lb bike was taking its toll on my old man knees. I live near Daytona so at a bike week event a couple of years ago I asked the MOCO XMSN guy at the MOCO tent that bikes are getting bigger and heavier that their competition offers reverse gears when is Harley going to get on board. He responded we get that a lot, but no we have no plans to do it. Pretty blunt response.
I traded for a new sportster and turned it into a mini bagged that's 300 lbs lighter.
Installing a reverse was a consideration until my dealer said they will void my warranty. Sick of the MOCO not considering the requirements of people that have been loyal to them for a lifetime
Happy with my current set up if I hadn't been, I would have bought a wing
