Cool The heat is gone

Finally yesterday had the opportunity to have my stage 1 1/2 done. The half is bonus half point for the RC headers. The rest was the SE breather/tuner and RC pipes. Bike seems to run a bit stronger which I hope will continue to improve as the miles and break in tally up. But the big bonus was the very noticeable decrease in heat from the engine/exhaust.

After my 50 mile trip to the dealership to be there at 9:00 AM for the appointment it was a great day weather wise. The salesman let me ride a Street Glide so I could get something to eat and was bored. Just rode the loaner like I would my own bike and did nothing out of line. Pretty nice of them and I did put some premium gas in it.

When I left I had about 150 (?) mile trip to pick up a solo seat from a great forum member. Thanks Bill !!! My intent was to strap it on the bike with bungee cords but forgot to take any so Bill slid me a stretch net to get it home. Almost another 100 mile ride back to the cave and a perfect day for riding.

I have read quite a bit about the M8 and heat but my heat has gone away nearly completely. The exhaust sounds about as close to a Harley as an M8 can sound. No deep lope and guess that can only be expected with cams but very happy now with the sound and performance. Now that the break in is over I can run the thing out.

On the trip yesterday I wanted to blast past a few semi trucks so gave the throttle a twist and they were very quickly in my rearview. Looked down at my speedometer and I was going 100 MPH. Dang, was cruising at 75 and never expected 100. Bike felt very stable and no stress anywhere that I could tell.

Hope everyone else is happy with their purchase as I am with my RGS. I indent to ride this one probably until I need to get off of 2 wheels and then consider a trike.

Did you have the slipons before doing the header? If so, how much difference did it really make with the header as far as sound/tone.

Nope, all done at the same time. Ordered everything when I bought the bike over a month ago but there was a holdup on the headers. Had to take off work to get it done but now should be good for 5K.

Someone told me the other day that the 17's and later have a 105 mph limiter on it and using a TTS is the only way to get past this. True?

Did the dealer give you any grief about the header?

Nope, bought everything from them. When I asked about warranty they said Harley has had a disclaimer about warranty since the 70's and some dealerships may give grief but this one would not.
