I know that the tuner "marries" to the ECM, but can it be flashed back to stock and removed? Say in 2019 and sold to someone who would be satisfied with it. Maybe a dumb queston, but I can't be the only one to wonder.
I did do a search and the answer was not easily returned.

You may be confused on an important point: You do NOT "flash" the tuner, you flash the ECM. So, yes, you can "reflash" the ECM back to stock, but you can't "unmarry" the ECM, or "reflash" the tuner back to like it was brand new.
As badcooky said, there's a guy in Australia who can reset the tuner, and I've heard that there are guys advertising on eBay who can do it as well.
Yes , I screwed up my answer but I think you figured that out.
Yea you can flash the standard map back in and not need the tuner, but then to sell it it has to be unmarried just in case we're not on the same page.
In the diesel world a lot of plug in tuners can be plugged in flash the ecm back to stock and then “unmarried”. I was curious if these tuners worked that way. Apparently they don’t.
