S&S for me too. Listened to several slip ons when I bought my bike. To me, they had the deepest rumble when twisting the throttle. None of the M8's will sound as good at idel without at least a good cam upgrade.

Currently have the S&S MK45 mufflers only on my ultra, I wanted the deeper bass tone they produce. Bike runs just fine, no dip in torque that I can perceive from the saddle. Still debating on going the full stage one route. Still have the cat in the header pipe and baffles in the MK 45 mufflers, so I'm confident I have sufficient back pressure and the ECM has adjusted to them.

regards,

And tune. Bringing the idle to 1k at startup makes a huge difference

Of course. Cam upgrade and tune go hand in hand.

I did the stage one on mine with those same slip ons. Maybe a little louder....nothing to write home about. Used the canned SE tuner map for stage one with slip ons. After a couple auto tunes, the bike runs strong now. Very responsive and peppy for the 500 bucks the stage one cost.

W/o question, S&S did their homework before bringing their mufflers to market. Can't say that for another major brand. Damn things sounded worse than Street Cannons.

550-0693 or 550-0694 They have not updated the website yet. I had to call their customer service number. Ironically, the part numbers are in the big Drag p/a book.

Not to change the subject here, but what is the difference between the 3 1/2", 4" and 4 1/2" slip ons? I have a 2017 RGS. Is the connection all the same? I'm guessing its just the diameter of the muffler.
I don't mean to hijack, but I didn't think this question was worth starting a new thread.

Sound for one thing. What you hear at the business end will be drastically different. What counts is the interior core. How much restriction is there.
