Yeah probably so, at least now I know I never want a Harley with lowers. Learn something new everyday.

I added lowers to my 13 SG and that thing caught fire on the right side and I had no CAT. I took them off in the summer. Now, I have an ultra limited (M8) and the right side is hot..........just had the cat removed and I notice a huuuuuuge difference.

In the fall when the wife and I went out, in fact the last ride i was on, I closed the vents to get some extra heat. It was kind of cold out so for us, the added heat was nice. During the summer, vents are open........... this bike runs much cooler than my 10 ultra classic.

I rode the 17 Ultra and felt some heat but not as much as the older ones. I thought they got rid of the heat by moving the cat to the mufflers

CAT is directly under the passenger foot on the right side. The CAT that comes in the muffler requires you to BUY a SE Exhaust system that has free flowing headers and CAT moved to muffler. Otherwise, stock it is still in the header.

Here's a report on cooling your engine. Very informative and helpful.

I complained about heat on my 2018 RGS when I took it in for its 1000 mile service (Dec 2017) as the heat generated when moving at town traffic speeds was way way higher than I was used to on my 2007 Road King. I was told it was normal, just wanted to get it reported if there is an issue at some later date.
As a Florida rider I admit I am concerned how hot it will be in riding in the hot summer months!
