Carlini Gangster Apes or Flying Apes for Road King Special
To keep this fairly short.
I'm interested in a set of Black 14" Carlini Ape Hangers for my Road King S
either Gangster Apes or Flying Apes
I originally planned to go with Factory 47 Malo Bars
but am growing tired of the meat hook look as I feel its what everyone is doing now and sometimes feel the lines/ sharp curves of the bars throw the look off of the rest of the bike.
Anyone have any experience on these 2 bars?
Looking for opinions on the looks of these 2 bars as well
THANKS !!

I got you bro.
1.25" diameter 16" Carlini Gangsters on my bike.
My opinion: I agree 100% that the meat-hook welded style apes look tacky and played-out. Gangster apes go with the lines of the bike better than Flyings and 16" are the perfect height for the proportions of this bike. I'm 6' even and my arms are level with my shoulders, almost went with the 14" and glad I didn't.

Bike screams for a larger diameter set of bars. Loved the factory 47 Malo bars , just couldn't justify the high price of $450. Even on sale for Vets day they were $383. Found a set of 14 hooks with right pullback and design. Love these bars!! They fit my bike perfectly and make this thing handle like a sport bike.
The really cool part was I did not need to buy cables, plenty of slack, made it work. Did need to extend a couple wires.
Perfect amount of height and width for me , I am 6,2. In Cali we love to split lanes! :-)
Done a few long day rides (400 mi+) the bars are comfy, pullback suits me well. I may push em forward if my ego needs a boost :-)

Johnny Those do look good!! Really appreciate the pics
I really want to go 1.5 diameter.... looks like my only option is to buy the chrome 14" with the flat spots and then have my local painter Powder coat gloss black as Carlini only offers in Chrome.
Chilidipper - Not gonna lie.. those look damn good... the thickness is spot on for me
I don't really mind the price as I have a 450 dollar credit at my local Harley dealer so gonna make sure I get exactly what I want
BUT GOTTA ASK... what brand are those.. better yet where did you get them ? got a link?
I would like to take a look especially for the price you paid..
THANKS !!
anyone else have any input ????

I went with KST's on my bike.
Quite a bit cheaper than some of the other well known brands, but quality seems to be on par with any of them.
Here is the set I ordered from dennis kirk.

So here is where I currently am .. still a bit torn
I am close to pulling the Trigger on Carlini's and really have narrowed it down to
Gangster Apes and Evil Apes (new contender) love the look of these as they have sharp corners... but no Meat Hooks.
Here is what my hold up is
on 14" Factory 47 Malo bars.. No extinsions necessary.. just a new Clamp for 100 bucks.... so all in 400 for bars and 100 for clamps
Carlinis it looks like even if I go with 12" vs 14" I am still having to go with new wires and clamp at 140... so I'm looking at what 650 plus for bars and wires not including install ???
do I have this right ?
