Quick change tourpak question
 

Need some help. I have a 2017 M8 FLTRU and want to do the removable quick change tourpak. I do not want to use the complete kit pt. #53000291A but just use 4point docking hardware pt. #52300353 and detachable mount rack pt.#53000221. Has anyone done this and had no problems. I'm not concerned about turn signals ect. have already moved them Thanks Bob

You're going to need a license plate mount.

Yep, I have done this very thing... I have Custom Dynamics run/brake/turn lights in the filler strips.... I found the bracket and mount on Ebay for half of Harley money.... I did give them their ransom for the bracket to relocate the license plate to the taillight.... all went smooth.... disconnect the four connectors from your tour pack and find a home for the wires under the seat..... remove the tourpac from the bike, (4 bolts)... mount the 4 point mount to the bike.... remove the mount from the bottom of the pack.... replace with the detachable bracket...... remove the rear taillight to mount the new license plate bracket behind it and relocate the plate ...... Done!!!! Mount and remove your tourpac as you wish....Now, an interesting thing happened....while into the dealer, with the tourpac removed, on an unrelated clutch switch issue, I asked them to make sure to flash the radio for all the latest updates.... they did and it threw a check engine light.... it was because the radio now couldn't find the rear speakers..... they "fixed" it for me by telling it that it only had front speakers..... worked fine until I put the tourpac back on... rear speakers wouldn't work at all.... had to run back in and have them re-flash it...no problems since..... hope this helps....DW

oh.... I forgot to add...unless you have already relocated your antenna to under the fairing as I did, you'll lose your antenna use...

yeah.... I didn't want to do that..... with it still up under the tourpac, none of the toll booth cameras can see it ;-)

good point DW out in sticks where I do majority of riding no tolls and I had to hide holes from chincy chrome piece they added to rear fender.
