Below is the manual conditions as of why the oil pressure lamp indicator will stay lit.

• Faulty lamp wiring
• Faulty oil pressure sending unit
• Damaged oil pump
• Plugged oil filter element
• Incorrect oil viscosity for the operating temperature
• Fractured or weak spring in the oil pressure relief valve
• Incorrectly installed O-rings in the engine

Low oil will trigger the light to stay lit, will over filling the bike have the same effect?

No, unless it is a sumping condition. When it sumps, the crank thrashes through the excessive amount of oil in the case, causing the oil to foam (air) and essentially its like the pump suffers a heart attack - it starts sucking air and loses prime, causing a drop in the feed side (pressure).

Be sure to check the feed and scavenge o-rings to make sure they are properly installed according to the manual. Then do the alignment (put the rear wheel in the air, 6th gear, spark plugs out, rotate rear wheel by hand).

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE UPDATED M1450 ALIGNMENT procedure. It is different than what you have printed in your manual! Look for M1450 pdf document (its around here somewhere).

Once together, get the bike warmed up and follow the M1450 instructions to check for sumping by pulling the CPS.

It could be a faulty sensor, but I doubt it. And I will also go as far to venture that people that had it replaced and think the problem is gone, may be experiencing sumping symptoms after all.

Lets look at each possibility:

• Faulty lamp wiring
Not likely
• Faulty oil pressure sending unit
Possible, not likely

• Damaged oil pump
Very possible as we know they have been having problems
• Plugged oil filter element
Not likely
• Incorrect oil viscosity for the operating temperature
NO
• Fractured or weak spring in the oil pressure relief valve
Not likely
• Incorrectly installed O-rings in the engine
Very possible as you had them removed.

Had the identical issue immediately after Stage 2 (447) install at dealership. When hot, oil light came on at idle (wouldn't see it at idle on cold start). Lamp went out when RPM went above ~1250. Went back to dealership and was told oil pressure sending unit was "contaminated" and that a small amount of debris had messed it up. Apparently, not the first time they had seen this.

Why on earth would they warranty something that you did yourself? Folks with some common sense automatically assume they wouldn't. Nor should they.
