9 times out of 10 my gas gap is almost impossible to turn. I had to use pliers yesterday to open the damn thing. Anyone else have this happen?

 

Blocked vent? Does it make a sound when it finally comes off?

 

I haven't noticed any sound from it but by the time I get it off I'm usually cursing it out loud lol. I'll have to check the vent tube that's a good idea!

 

H-D got a bad batch of caps- they distort from gas vapor? Had mine replaced under warranty

Or do a search, many have just taken a file to the straight just below the threads and filed the OD down just a tad. That straight non threaded area will bind up in the tank. Doesnt take much, just a few swipes with the file. Had mine replaced under warrenty. A couple months later did it again. Filed it and never had any more troubles.
