Default Right leg on fire

So I'm riding around on a nice 80 deg. day, the first one riding my 2 week old Road king and OMG this thing is hot as hell, WTF? Will a real tune with a aftermarket tuner cool this bike down, or does the cat have to go to make it comfortable on hot days? I'm moving south soon, this can not stay like this. Yes, I know, the warranty.

It’s the cat,it’s up to you if you leave it or remove it or put an aftermarket header on it.
I went with aftermarket header and it is so much cooler

That's what I figured, I guess I'll go aftermarket head pipe and just hang on to the stock exhaust. What did you tune with?

it's bad if you can feel the CAT on a RK, because they don't have hard lowers to trap the heat & make it eddy around your feet.

my FLHTK is already feeling hot, but i thought that was because i had the vents closed on the hard lowers.

you "should" be able to buy an OEM pipe with cat removed, and that "should" keep you in warranty with most dealers

I was thinking about that too, it still looks stock, only without that sitting on a pizza oven feeling.

if you don't want to kick your factory warranty to the curb after two weeks maybe try the HD Cool Flow Fan..it's designed to draw hot air away from the rear cylinder and exhaust and disperse it downward away from your legs..I've been riding Harleys for a long time and the heat just never bothers me all that much even in triple digit temps..you should make sure EITMS is enabled too..these two things might be enough to offer the relief you desire, save a lot of money on exhaust, tuner and voiding warranty and potential issues on the road
