Real easy to install I re used the right side hose but you just need to be careful removing the Oberg style clamp my bike was only a couple of weeks old so the hose was perfect, do need to go to the dealer if you have a TTS Mastertune. I think they have re designed something as early ones needed modification to install the cover mine fit with no modification and works really well highly recommended mod, my oil temps are so much lower than my Twin Cam SGS

I will replace the hoses if easy enough to get to. I just read the clamp on the one going up to the head was a pain and Harley makes a special tool to get to it. I haven't looked at it yet on the bike to see where it is actually at

If this is true, then I vote this "best kept secret of the year" (or month, anyway)!! I am skeptical, but.....

I really wish I took pictures, but I thought this "mod" had already been hashed out in great detail on another forum and figured it had become common knowledge. Sorry about that.

Granted, I do have a bike lift and an "awesome" set of tools, but I am not exaggerating one bit. Literally took me 20-30 minutes total to swap out the old for the new on my 2018 CVO RG.

Well if that is the case I will remove the fan/shroud off the new one I ordered, remove the shroud off my bike and put it one. I guess I will have a spare cooler Incase something happens to mine lol. I just know the OEM cooler is #62700196 and the the one in the fan kit is #62700133.

Not sure if there was a design change on the OEM coolers, but on my ‘17 FLHXS (September ‘16 build date), there was no fan shroud on the OEM, non fan oil cooler. There are tabs tig welded to the two vertical tubes (with inlet and outlet) that make up the ends of the cooler. The bolts that attach the cooler to the frame bracket insert through those tabs. On the fan-assist cooler kit PN 62700204, those same bolts insert through metal inserts in the side of the plastic fan shroud, there are no tabs welded to the cooler. The coolers themselves are indeed different, at least on mine. See illustrations/pic below.

In the illustration (straight from the instructions included with the fan-assisted cooler kit), the stock cooler with the tabs I described can be clearly seen on the right, the fan-assisted cooler is shown on the left, and of course the fan assisted cooler in the pic clearly shows the attaching method of the new part.

His reply only applies to the 18 CVO bikes. Non-CVO require the whole cooler swapped.

Missed the CVO connection Chris. Why in the hell would the MoCo install fan shrouds on CVO’s, WITH NO FAN IN THE SHROUD? What in the F?? Check out this thread from the CVO forum...
