Default 12 inch Ape's on 18 Street Glide CVO, Gunship

Hi--is anyone running 12inch bars on a Gunship CVO that they can post pics of. Also did you leave your mirrors in stock location, if so is your vision blocked? If you moved them, what did you do and do you get vibration at high speed? I've never run Ape's before and was considering adding them to my CVO but wanted to vet it out first.

Not a gunship CVO but this is 12's on a SGS, stock mirrors were useless, could not see anything so I went with Arlen Ness mini ovals, wasn't crazy about putting mirrors on top but I tried them upside down and that looked goofy in my opinion. They are very small but I can see everything fine and I am used to them up top now and think they look fine.

KBush, I ran 12” Yaffe Monkey Bars on my ’16 street glide special, before trading it for the ’18 CVO Street Glide. I rode with the factory mirrors for a couple of months but they blocked the factory mirrors too much. I final bought the Harley profile customer mirrors P/N56000135 and worked awesome. There was no vibration in the mirrors. I used the provided mounting nuts for the mirrors which worked great.

If you decide to remove your factory mirrors you will likely want to plug the mounting hole in your fairing. I used the Kustom Cycle Parts mirror plus which I thought were great. They were ~$15 and snapped right in, no issues.

Good Luck!

Default That’s what I have

A few pics of my setup. Still us factory mirrors. At first the switches were in the way. Now I am used to them. Works fine for me.

thanks for the responses, both bikes look great! Did either of you consider using these mirror extenders to keep the stock mirror?

The vendor offered them to me in black or chrome at time of install but it looked odd to me, I wasn't a fan.

Hate those damn plastic fairing mirrors. I always pulled them, put a plastic plug in place and mirrors on the bars. JMHO.

Love this color.

How tall are you? I'm 5'10" and when I originally installed my bars, I couldn't see the mirrors without leaning back quite a bit. Do you just not use them much?

No, did not consider those. but they seem like they might be susceptible to vibration.
