Ouch. Usually the dogs are what lets loose. Probably Chinese crap metal. Any other damage? Missing bearing needles? Bent forks?

Dang! I ordered SE Street Canons, SE Breather, and a Street Tuner. I went this route to keep my warranty. I plan to install the parts myself, because it's simple and I will save some money. After reading through this thread I am beginning to question whether or not that decision will make a difference if I have an issue.

The time is coming where HD abandons the entire SE line of accessories just like most all other manufacturers of mobile product.

Why would they do that? They make way more money selling generally less than optimal parts (I'm being kind) to a practically captive audience who they now have scared into thinking they must stay with said parts or invalidate warranty. It's a cash cow. You can also detect the push to have only dealers doing the work via threat of warranty denial should their questionable parts fail.

Wow, Anytime you see ground up parts like that, while the rest of the gear sets look decent - it's poor hardening of the damaged area. Who would have thought that using non Harley branded windshield cleaner would cause the tranny to fail like that? Sorry for the troubles DRBUICK

Two reasons:

Because they EPA is getting tighter and tighter with every passing year and OEM's are having a harder and harder time keeping up with emissions requirements (especially to modified product). Look how HD reacted when they got smacked with the most recent EPA fine?

Because they're done an outstanding job () with this latest round of engines showing how "competent" they are when it comes to getting more power out of their engines (sumping?) as well as how the MoCo has shown they want to support their product when their designs fail.

Look at the SE catalog from 5 years ago. Way more options for the TC than the M8.

For those that believe this view, there really shouldn't be a problem. Just make whatever changes you want, with whatever parts you want, installed however you please and stop complaining about the warranty. It's your bike, your nickel and your right to do whatever you want to the bike. Just like its HD's right to void your drivetrain for violating the terms. It's not that complicated.
