No Softails transfer. Transfer appears to be an issue with the hydraulic clutch Touring models only, and it includes TCs for that matter.

I have no dog in the fight, but as I've said in other threads the issues are overblown. Yes, they happen. Yes, they happen to some bikes. No, they don't happen to ALL bikes, they don't happen to 50% of the bikes, and they don't happen to 25% of the bikes. It's likely less than 5% at most. TSBs are not an indicator of widespread problems. I don't know what the threshold is for generating a bulletin, but the number of cases it takes to do so isn't based on a percentage but rather the number of reports. I know this from a past life in the OEM.

From my own experience and from the dozen or so guys I know personally that ride M8s, I maintain that the problems are small-scale. My bike is at 9300 miles. The only notable "issue" (not an issue to me) is that my transmission fluid is on the "add" mark. If that's as bad as it gets for 8300 miles of use, I couldn't care less. I'll top it off when I do my 10K service and happily motor on. If it worsens in time, I'll see what's out there to correct it and fix it myself.

They are machines. They aren't perfect. I empathize with the guys that have had horrific and repeated problems with these bikes, and would be pissed too if it happened to me. However, success stories like mjwebb's and mine are the majority, not the minority as these forums would have the uninformed believe.

Trans oil transfer and sumping on a new Harley are like losing your job.
You hate it for someone when it happens to them;
It is hard to sympathize with someone when it hasn't happened to you;

but when it happens to you, it's PERSONAL.

You should have been in the boat with me; TWO bikes w/Trans oil transfer in 3 months.

TKS to $tonecold for his help............

I certainly believe the issues are real, and I've seen the touring case architecture issues up close and personal, but I'd really like to know why sumping hasn't seemed to show up on the Softails at all that I've found. What is different in the models???

The Softails have two counterbalancers. Don’t ask me how that could keep them from sumping, I have no idea, but that is the biggest difference between the two models.
