M 8 oil consumption
My 2017 Limited dipstick was at the Add Oil line after 2,300 miles. How do you measure oil consumption? Does anyone I know what the graduations on the dip stick is and then relate to how much oil it takes to top off to the full mark, so that I can accurately track the oil consumption? Cheers from Denver

Defective rings could be the issue with all of this oil consumption but usually you see some smoke coming from the exhaust, especially when the ride is shifting gears.
I'd prefer to believe that the problem is related to crankcase ventilation or a little less likely, valve seal/stem issues.
I bought a new '02 Chevy Avalanche and before I took it back for the first oil change (3,000 miles) it had used a tad over 3 quarts of motor oil.
When I had it serviced, I complained to my friend (Service Manager) and a couple of weeks later he called me and asked if I'd drop by so they could take another look at my vehicle. Turned out that it had the incorrect PCV valve. They changed that and the truck never "lost" any oil after that.

My dealer said br8ng it in Friday. Sorry some of you haven’t heard about this problem but I’m not joking and I’m not full of it, so thanks for the smart remarks, but it’s real. It’s happened four times, no blue smoke, no oil dripping, no oil on the back of the bike. My Ultra Classic never used oil between changes, but the M8 has used 6. And a $32,000 investment that you can’t trust on vacation is no laughing matter.

I bought a 2017 CVO street glide, broke it in and put 2000 miles on it. It burned 6 qts. No smoke etc. Took it to dealer, factory hadn’t installed skirt Oiler manifold correctly. New top end under warranty. Just got back from 2500mile trip, running hard and loaded, used one pint. I think it’s fixed.

KarlVan..... Any update news to share?? Asking as I just returned form long trip on my 2018 (RG Ultra w/Stage 2) and experiencing same issue! Consumed 1 qt every ~1800 miles. Been very closely checking after my 1000 mile service, at 5300 miles now. Had to add 8 oz. Trany oil at 500 mile too.... I am quite worried. 4th Glide in 20 years, first one that ever used oil.
