Default Awesome Softail

Flew into Denver and Rented a 2018 Heritage for Sturgis.Attacked all the mountain passes from Vail To Yellowstone To Spearfish! Really blown away by the handling and suspension on this new monoshock frame!Could hardly believe we were on a fully loaded Harley.
No wobble or deviation like my 2017 Street Glide.Pick your line and it stays there through tight hairpins or fast sweeps. Not one glitch or anomally in 2500 miles!
Anyone notice that the sections of Yellowstone where you can get away at 70mph are probably the best of the lot.Wonderful country guys!
Did not enjoy the lazy response and fade on the single front disk or the heatwaves on my crutch and legs in 90+ Temperatures though!
Would fit a cooling fan,a second disk and stage 111 if it were mine and ride off into the sunset.
Very surprised not to have heard glowing reports about this?Cant wait for the new similar Touring frame, which now has to be a racing certanty!

Agree 100% with your impression. I call my '18 Heritage Softail 114 a fantastic motorcycle that happens to be made by HD.

I love the ergonomics of the Heritages, having had a 2013 and test riding the 114 2018 they just feel right..if the new ones had dual front discs, tubeless tires and hydraulic clutch I would probably strongly consider one, shedding 100 lbs is a significant difference. just hated the clutch fade in hot stop and go traffic on my cable bikes..do a lot of Touring and think I could outfit the Heritage to do the job..but as things are now the Road King is aptly named

I've got a 114 Anniversary Heritage. I picked it up in January and now have over 11k miles on it. It's the best bike I've ever owned. With the Mustang touring seat, the curved Freedom Shields windshield and the Jag fangs on the forks, this bike is superior to my 07 Street Glide even with it's custom Ohlins 13.25" shocks for long days in the saddle. My son on his Fatbob 114 and I just got back from a tour up the California and Oregon coast and back and we put 1800 miles on the bike. Just awesome.

I rented a 2018 Heritage 114 in San Diego for a weekend in February. Rode 500 miles in two days and had an absolute blast!

The trip included long sections of twistys, large elevation changes down the Banner Grade and flat stretches of high speed desert roads to Borrego Springs. The Heritage handled it all with enthusiam!

I met a local riding a XR1200 at the Nickel Beer Company in Julian, we shared stories and beers then as dusk approached he guided me back to San Diego. He has over 75k miles(!) on that bike and he knows the roads well so we pushed the limits on the ride back. He later told me he was surprised I was able to stick with him through the corners and complimented the bike and my riding.

I agree that the weak point is the front brake. I could feel it fade as I tailed the XR1200 , and I found that a combination of front brake, engine braking and using the rear brake to trail into the corners was necessary to keep the pace. The chassis had way more capability in it than the brakes or floorboard-limited lean angle would allow. It was too cold to be bothered by the heat off the cat, but that is an issue on my 2018 Fat Bob 114 as well.

If my everyday riding included touring the heritage would be on the top of my list.
