same as it's always been with various Screaming Eagle air cleaner kits, not M8 specific...the breathers spew oily residue as designed back into the intake to be burned thanks to the wonderful EPA emissions standards..some of these designs allow the residue to not make it to its intended destination entirely and dribble down the AC backplate and between the filter and back plate seal and/or into the filter where Mother Nature at speeds blows the residue into a beautiful painting all over the cam cover, exhaust, saddlebags, seats and chaps...common practice is to run your oil level below Full but even then at times if it's hot out and pushing the engine hard it just don't matter

Looks like new backplate, with different tube guides were included with the longer tubes. Thanks for the pics. Now I know I have the original tubes, short and low.
(But I put in a homespun catch can after seeing the “Bent Exhaust Valve” thread. Had to use much thinner can than I had in original AC housing with KN filter. Surprised how much less room is in HF housing compared to original.)

It looks like these are included in the SE HF Air Cleaner (instructions dated 03-12-2018). Just to clarify, the tubes included in your Stage 1 upgrade were not these tubes? I went Stage 1 in Oct 2016. Did they change the tubes after that? Thanks!

yeah these are new recent replacement tubes, no changes to the backplate, and the new kits ship with the new tubes

you say the originals hang lower, if the new ones were in the tube guide wouldnt they hang exactly like the originals just deeper in the intake?
