Yes, the tool seemed to get unusually tight during removal when it happened. I am still not sure exactly what went wrong. In any case, the new bearing insertion went smoothly and SS 475 goes in today!

Sometimes, loading the bearing with heavy wheel bearing grease before removal will help keep the pieces from falling all over the place, if in fact the bearing comes apart.
