Default Installing Fuel Moto's 120 Big-Bore Kit

The fast parts fairy dropped off some goodies so now I need to find some time to get back into the garage and get this beast put back together. I will be sharing my install experience as I go for those who are interested. Here's what my build will consist of:

Existing Parts
  • K&N HD-1717 filter in my modified stock housing
  • Rinehart Slimline header
  • Rinehart MotoPro 45 4.5" slip-ons
  • Stock heads
  • Stock throttle body
  • Power vision PV-2 tuner
120 Fuel Moto Kit
  • Ductile iron-lined big-bore cylinders
  • Carrillo 11.2:1 forged pistons & rings
  • Wood WM8-999 cam w/ Koyo inner bearing
  • Wood Night Prowler directional lifters
  • Bender Cycle adjustable pushrods
  • Cometic gaskets and o-rings
Additional Performance Items
  • Wood BW-4V valve springs & titanium retainers
  • Screamin' Eagle 5.5 G/Sec injectors
  • AIM Variable Clutch
  • S&S billet tappet cuffs
  • NGK CR95 spark plugs gapped @ .35"
I also purchased George's Garage inner cam bearing remover and installer from them. I would have also gone with their heads and the SE throttle body, but I didn't have an extra $1800 in the budget to throw at this project right now. Sometime down the road I will add these items; could be a while.

I have submitted to them for the initial PV tune, and will schedule a dyno-tuning session with a local tuner when I have a completion date targeted. Let the games begin. Stay tuned.

Drool...

The bottom end will remain stock, and these pistons are not coated. Agreed...it'll be fun.

Very interested in following your build, as I'm considering pretty much the same on my '18 RGS...

wowzers! so forgive me, but just simply out of curiosity I can't help but ask if you do a lot of touring? with such a potpourri of parts do you not have any concerns with overall reliability, i.e. what could possibly go wrong? sounds like a very complex and complicated project with so many different variables..that's all, thanks

There are PLENTY of people who tour on Fuelmoto kits. They are not exactly known for being unreliable.

Most of the kits developed and offered by the aftermarket big boys are of higher quality than OEM - with better performance. More smiles. Nothing wrong with that.

I have a friend with this setup and a D&D pipe, things a beast, made 130horsepower and the torque curve is about as flat as it gets, he went with the 999 cams, latest H-D oil pump in it. Rides it all over the place, hes probably put 5-10k on it since he had it built last winter. gets pretty close to stock gas mileage he claims. I thought I would be happy with just a cam but I'll be doing a 120 kit eventually. I was kinda just doing the cam waiting to see what the market comes out with because were still only 2 years into this engine being out and its already proving itself to be a hot rod. Jaime says they have more big bore M8 stuff coming out next month, S&S is rumored to have a 124 drop on kit coming and revolution performance has one too.
