Front End Wobble
Yesterday I went on a ride and in a curve I got a weird feedback feeling through the handlebars. It felt like I was riding a rut. So on a straight away I loosened up and let go of the bars. The front end went into a shake/ wobble. It didn't take much more than putting my hands on the bars to stop it. Tire pressure is good.
I figure it's either wheel bearing or head bearings. I am not a bike mechanic so I am looking for input. Bike is a 17 Ultra Limited with 9K miles. Bike is under warranty and will get a trip to the dealership for inspection. |
Been dealing with this since new. 2 dealers have had the bike. Wheel weight. Neck bearing. Still there. Only happens at certain speeds. Last resort new wheel bearings for me. Good luck. Let us know what fixes yours

It's probably the tire. At 9 K, it's developed a wear pattern that is pulling slightly. Probably be OK if you keep your hands on the bars . Never seen anywhere that is an authorized test for anything.

Or it could be as simple as the air pressure.....

I had same problem on my 09 cvo rg, tightened neck bearing & it was good!!!

My RK did it for the first couple thousand miles and Harley finally replaced the tires and it was solved. Good luck. Keep those tires at about 38 front and 40 rear IMO. |
Tire pressures are good. Tires don't feel to be cupping any noticeable odd wear patterns

Just maybe you or the previous owner ran through a pothole or road obstacle.Had Harley's that wobbled through fast corners without ever finding the reason,just lived with it until we parted.Wobbling on the Straight is a serious problem that usually only comes with low tyre pressure or a dented rim.Raise the front wheel and look for deviations while spinning it. If you see a kink take it to a rim straightening specialist.Seen this with a few salvage bikes I've restored. If it is not this,take it straight to the dealer and don't ride it until the fault is found.Good Luck! |
No one ever specifies what speed this occurs so i must assume this must be the approx 30 mph wobble when u take your hands off the bars
Add 2 lbs of air to the front tire so make it 38 it might take a lb more All my FLH's have done this [6] and this is what fixes it Neck bearings are adjusted properly - this was done first before upping the tire pressure |
