Well. Twice, with 2 different vehicles I got notified that I was the recipient of damages from a class action law suit. I didn't even know about the suits. In both cases I received a 100K mile warranty on the engine.

There was one post, that basically said a MoCo Rep had to approve it being used on a sumping M8, before a dealer could order it..

Maybe it needed MoCo approval because it's a new part, held back for dealer warranty use only for now, but it appears to be listed as used on 2019 engines...

This is a post about the part #:

"There's a differant cover for the oil pump assembly that has an added seal, the the previous years didn't have.

2019 air cooled
11293 o-ring
62400206 cover oil pump assy
62400205 oil seal

2017 air cooled
11293 o-ring
62400125 cover oil pump assy"

And here's a pic of the new part:

So do all 2019's have this new part (107,114,117)or is there a date range for the new parts, mine is August of 2018 and I was wondering if my 117 has any updates in it, I hope it does!

I'm curious as to what the seal is designed to accomplish - allows the pump to create more vacuum so it draws the oil out better?

LOL - maybe. Might wait until next fall for a 2020. I'm intrigued by the idea of a 114 and the new boom GTS.

My understanding is that some of the early 2019's didn't get it, but it was eventually added to the production line. I believe the date I keep reading is in mid august for the production line change...

People smarter than me, think one of the sumping triggers is when pressure variances in the sump area (poor design/manufacturing), interrupt the ability of the oil pump to scavenge the oil. Almost the same problem that happened to the Twin Cam and delayed its production almost a year. In that case, the MoCo caught it pre-production and decided to fix it properly. That is why one of the fixes Steve Cole does, is to machine some changes in the sump area and to the scavenging pick up. So based on that, I would guess the HD seal is supposed to stop/mitigate these pressures in the sump, that can interrupt the pump scavenging... I suspect Steve Cole is right and the MoCo is/has been searching for a fix that doesn't involve a change to the cases (???????)

Is there a way to find out for sure if my bike has it?
