Good to hear she got it fixed. But dont like it that another regular had had problems with there m8. I mean i understand guys never being here coming to vent because they had a problem. But when the regular guys that back the m8 everyday start having issues makes me wonder if you know what i mean.

yeah, I always report the good, the bad and the ugly..try to knowledge share, be objective and keep some perspective, etc..but these are two years old now and miles are racking up so we'll see more longer term related issues..I still think for the most part they are fine machines overall and some of the more isolated type issues get overblown..we just keep rolling, learning and having fun and deal with stuff as it comes up is about all we can do..material possessions and all, not worth losing too much sleep over

Loose seats are also a problem even in the stock heads so he has a way to pressure test the head to check for that. I just asked him to get a good set of aftermarket springs to put in the heads so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

If you bring up patrick racing inc on facebook it has a video of his Newen single point cutting a valve seat on an M8 head. It will cut both seats on either the exhaust or the intake side to the same depth within .001 thousandths. That's what it says on the video header, it could be it is just one thousandths or it could be .000001". It is suppose to be the most precise way to cut seats. When your doing two valves operated by the same nonadjustable rocker arm it is pretty important to have precision.

MJ, you're pretty good at embedding videos, maybe you can do that one.
Did you happen to catch those range of VIN's? I'd be interested to know.

btw is this the video?

I’m going to his shop tomorrow, I’ll see if I can get them then. If so I’ll post them.

Regarding earlier post: maybe a .0001. Could be wrong things have changed a lot since I had to work to those kinds of tolerances I am sure. After that is was grind or hone when I did--pre CNC everywhere days. Working to a ten thousandth tolerance on expensive stuff was a little tense sometimes--it paid well.
