Not sure it matters - most of it will transfer anyway!

Might as well shake a dead chicken over it. Your good to go either way. Pick something that makes you feel good.

Default Oil

I owned a 2017 and now a 2018 M8. The 2017 at 1,000 miles I changed to synthetic.

On the 2018 I stayed with regular HD 360 20w-50 in the engine and HD Formula Plus in the trans and primary.

Results: There is no comparison between the two. The 2018 M8 with the regular is hands down much quieter than my 2017. Also, I’m not so sure the rings have fully seated on the M8 at the 1,000 mile mark.

So, I’m staying with the regular oil. It was good enough from the factory (with the exception of the CVO’s) so its good enough for me. Plus I run the fan assisted oil cooler.

Just my 2c worth.
