Default Nikasil, Nikasil, Nikasil

Who has Nikasil cyclinders on their Harley? Looking at big bore kits and a couple of the 124” are Nikasil. it should be fine, if not better, but I know there’s been issues in the past with Revolutions offering and incorrect rings being used.
Looking forward to thoughts and opinions on this

Put Nikasil cylinders and pistons in my dyna in 2011. Ran great, no problems. The reported issues were before then unless there has been something new.

Had Revolutions 98" kit on my 2005 Ultra. 50K+ miles before a rocker arm failed and took out the motor.
They were Great to work with and Love the 98".

I know Drago uses Nikasil cyclinders. He’s known for quality work and big horsepower from blower motors

Nikasil got a bad reputation back in the '90's when BMW started using it in their V8 motors in the US. They found that US gas had too much sulphur compared to Europe, so it was eating the crap out of the cylinders. BMW switched to Alusil, but the damage was already done. Since then the US fuel standards have changed and sulphur is no longer a problem.

Our Polaris bikes both came with Nikasil cylinders. I have 41k on my Cross Country and the wife has 10k on her Chief. To be honest the only time we'll know for sure if they indeed did put Nikasil in is if I need to tear the bikes apart. I certainly can't tell any difference but I don't know if i'm supposed to. I don't know if it's for less friction or longer cylinder life.

There was a problem with Nikasil cylinders prior to '09. I have nikasil cylinders on my '09 street glide TMan 107" build. They came with a lifetime warranty. I've had no issues and would not hesitate using them again.

I have them in a T-Man 124", it has about 70,000 miles on the build. I would use them again.

dirt bikes have been using it for a solid decade plus, its the standard now, no one uses sleeves anymore, the stuff it about bullet proof too. I would not hesitate to use it on any street bike application.

What problem would that be?
