Thanks again for the heads up!!
Ditto on some of the above comments. It is my understanding that the M8 oil pump problems were on 2017 water cooled models manufactured somewhere around Oct-Dec 2016. For most of us (my bike had the oil pump problem) the problem manifested itself somewhere between 1,000 and 3,000 miles. If you're beyond 3k, you're probably in the clear. Save your $.

I have an early-build '17 RGS. I still have the OEM pump and plate. No sumping before or after big bore install. HD is making the pump plate a recommendation with their Stage II, III, and IV kits. You decide what's best for you.

For two years we have listened to theorys on Oilpump upgrades and we are still doing it for aparently no reason!
I managed to find a site which has not been forced to shut down its Harley Partsfinder.
On checking I find the 2017 Pump 62400178,Gerotor 62400052,and feed Gerotor 62400126 are unchanged and identical to the 2019 part list !
In fact the only part which has been altered is the pump cover 62400125 which has been replaced by the new cover and oil seal 62400206, which costs a few dollars.
Why then are we still chasing the after market pumps? Like getting a Heart replacement,JUST IN CASE !

In Many things S&S in an Improvement over HD OEM , but don't believe that to be the case in this situation ..

Just a heads up,the oil light wont necessarily come on,it didn't come on on my 18 RK when the oil pump went out or when cam plate went bad

Just a heads up,the oil light never came on on my 18 RK when the oil pump went out or the cam plate the last time(so they think)10 weeks now no bike, very frustrating

True, but they have been making changes ( altering ) without changing the part numbers, not even a letter code added when updated. The latest pumps are only identified by the packing date on the box.

I have had two M8 Road Glides, neither had sumping issues such as overheating, loss of power etc. But, the oil played hide and seek on both bikes, made checking the oil a game. After installing the new pump plate w/seal we don't play that game anymore. In my opinion the seal is the cure. Now, thats not to say if your cooler jets blow a gasket, or you plug your breathers with loctite or FUp your bike in other ways it wont get back at you.

The online parts finders usually only show the newest most current part number as it supersedes all others...

The first oil cooled 2017s started out with Pump 62400121, then moved to 62400143, and then replaced by 62400178.
The first twin cooled 2017s started out with Pump 62400124, then moved to 62400146, and then replaced by 62400182.

The 2019's have pumps 62400178 and 62400182 respectively.

Like sixguns stated, there were many internal revisions to 62400143 and 62400146 while HD was troubleshooting and trying to come up with a final pump design.

at Sturgis this year I talked to S&S and they told me that their pump would not solve the sumping issue

My early 2017 SGS has the original 119 number pump.Fitted Stage 111.Has not missed a beat in 18 months no matter how hard and long I run it! Just trying to get a message to the guys with non sumping bikes to stop pump hunting.
If you're going to be in there anyway, just fit the plate and seal and don't mess with it further.

This is good advice. When I installed my big bore kit I didn't bother with the pump because the revisions were seemingly worthless. The plate with seal wasn't out yet, or I would have put it on. So far I haven't needed any of it, and at 12K miles without issue, I'm not worried about it.
