If you're going to be in there anyway, just fit the plate and seal and don't mess with it further.
Agree. I bought the latest pump anyway but that was before I knew the new back plate/seal would fit on the original pump. Haven't installed anything yet. Don't know if I need to at this point. 26K hard miles full of smiles.

I am just curious what would be cost of updating to latest 2020 pump if I would let dealer fo it? I know pump is 120$ or so but how much in labor I should count for this job?

bike is stock and upgrading cams would be nice but while it is stock I guess I will need new exhaust and tuner at least so this might add additional $$$

I can confirm this for you; If you add new exhaust, and a tuner, there is no MIGHT about it...it WILL add additional cost

All their engineers and the supposed "millions of miles of testing" resulted in a "fix" well after release - and lots or owner heartache???

Sounds a little bit like the Ford diesel Six-Uh Oh, I mean 6.0 ... but then again, Ford MoCo is profitable too.

I have an early build 2017 RKS - I took delivery mid September of 2016. I am going to be upgrading the cam soon, and was planning on replacing the oil pump. I have 6K miles, don't ride it all that hard but have never seen any issues that would lead me to believe it sumps. From what I've seen, it seems like the early builds are pretty solid - maybe the MOCO got a cheaper supplier after the first batch of pumps. So, am I wasting my money changing the pump? Should I just replace the plate with the new one with the seal?

there's your biggest problem! anyway, inclined to say leave well enough alone and not introduce change and its risks to something that doesn't appear to need it....there's soooooo many early build oem oil pumps working flawlessly...then on the flip side while its opened up in there and not expensive, replace the plate and pump ......wth, toss a coin
