I've been on this board for almost 12+ years and to be honest, before the M8 this was THE common occurrence after mods, and some just out of the box - failed cam bearings that is.
If history tells us anything, nothing in the cam chest is more susceptible to failure than the cam bearing... better to address it while in there. No brainer.

Like anything else, get the right tool and use it correctly.
