Reusable oil filter on M8 ?

Do as you wish, your money.
I've been dealing with the latest and greatest gizmos for bikes and harleys in particular since the 70's the largest percentage of them added no value and some outright went backwards. I could rattle off a couple dozen very popular aftermarket products that are bunk but the hype lives on and people will pay more for them.

Damn, enquiring minds want to know. We all need a good laugh at bad upgrades. I especially like the "turbo flow generator" that goes in the input (for cars) - the one where they demonstrate how great it is with 2 2-liter soda bottles, one draining into the other. :P

Apparently you can't get past the word "racing" in the Company's name. As for taking the hard earned money out of my pocket - I've already broke even with the filter changes on my '13 FXSB, so I guess you think it's stupid to save money while using a better filter, though that's not the reason I bought it.
Hey its your bike and your money. spend it as your heart desires sir.

I don't have any skin in the game - Have I used reusable filters in bikes - Yes. Do I use them now - No, because I hate cleaning them.
That being said please stop with the cost savings - that is not what it is about. There are a couple areas reusable filters offer a better solution:
1) When paper filters do not allow proper flow (i.e. cold startup, higher RPMs, possibly dirty) they go into a bypass mode to allow flow - This allows unfiltered oil to be returned.
and
2) Filter efficiency
Other nice items are:
1) Magnetic prefiltering - Yes, like on the drain plug
2) Potentially a slight cooling effect (nothing I really noticed)
3) Good flow without bypass
So again it is NOT about cost savings

Thanks, I will. Besides that, you've given exactly zero actual reasons not to buy a reusable oil filter - ok, except for the straw-man money factor.

There is no reason NOT to buy one. it clearly works like any oil filter should work. The benefits for a low RPM Harley IMO are way overstated. But that's just my opinion.

I spent 35 grand on a motorcycle. I’m always interested in other things to spend money on to improve my bike. Who in the world sits around dreaming up ways to save money by owning a Harley-Davidson! If you told me it improves performance or extends engine life fine. But saving $12 every 5000 miles does not interest me in the least!
