Default HD customer service compared to BMW

A buddy of mine purchased a new BMW R1200RT a year after I got my new 2017 Road King. He got his from a dealer in CT ( 2 hours away) I got my HD from a dealer 10 minutes away.
He has a noise they are looking into under warranty and are picking the bike up from him this week.
My dealer?
They want me to ride the bike in for the clutch issue to be addressed. An issue that they say DO NOT RIDE THE BIKE.
We both paid about the same for the bikes, and yet the BMW dealer is coming from 2 hrs away to get his , me, nope..
Anyone have their HD dealer willing to pick their bikes up for this clutch issue?

My dealer picked up and delivered mine after doing the recall in December. They were only 40 mins. away from where I live.

Mine will if I ask them to, but if I was just getting the clutch actuator replaced and had no issues with the one installed, I would just ride it in.

My NJ dealer (AC HD) would come and pick it up if I asked, but I've had no issues, been riding the bike, and I'll ride it in for the recall.

That sounds like a dealer thing and NOT a BMW warranty anything yet. If you or anyone you know has not gone though BMW Warranty Hell yet just wait and let us know how this goes. Like a cheap insurance company, the first response is always 'you did something wrong.' Unless something has changed drastically in the last 3 years at the BMW corporate level (and I doubt it) everything is YOUR FAULT or EXTREME USE. Don't believe me? Just wait.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence until you are on that side of the fence...then it is always greener on the other side of someone else's fence.

I have a 2015 BMW r1200rt and a 2019 cvo sg, can't say I get treated any better or any worse at either dealer, I feel equally violated leaving them both, LoL

I live about 2 hours from the dealer I purchased my bike from. They will pick it up and return it for warranty work or regular service. They picked mine up for the clutch recall and a stage 2 speaker replacement. I normally do my own service but if I want them to do it they will pick it up. I agree, sounds like the dealer no Harley. FYI, I was told by my dealer that Harley does not reimburse them for pick/delivery even on warranty work.

If your dealer is 10 minutes away, check you fluid level (clutch master cylinder), top off with DOT 4 if needed and ride it up there. You could also ask another dealer if they would pick it up. Most dealers will offer free pickup/delivery because they know they’ll make it up while raking you over the coals for the service cost

Customer service varies dealer to dealer, no matter the brand. Hardly any conclusions regarding the motor company based upon a one off dealer experience.
