Default Bought the new 2017 m-8 Street glide in 2016

After coming back from the Chillicothe rodeo I instantly went to the Harley shop took a ride on the new m-8 and bought it immediately although I was a little leery and a main mechanic who has built Harley dirt track bikes and won championships there agreed to give me a good deal in the winter on a stage III big bore kit as he was interested in the new motor. I reluctantly bought the bike and ran it hard The way I ride my bikes as I did every other bike to break them in. At 2000 miles we tore it down and did stage three big bore kit I got to watch the build from start to finish he then dyoned it and ran it through cycles to cool down to make sure rings and pistons and cylinders seated. I decatted head pipe Vance and hine slip ons and power vision tuner. It pushes 115 hp and 125 ft lbs of tourque. It's a beast with 15,000 miles no major problems just hd minor recalls except small trans fluid migration into primary. All I can say is the best engine I've had including a CVO 110 that ran hot all the time. After all the hatred of the m-8 which I think is BS I'm not hearing many complaints now. This engine has a lot of potential!

I also bought my 2017 M8 in 2016. I had no concerns since it was going to be under warranty anyway. Have around 18,000 miles with zero issues. It was the pull of the bike that hooked me. Not disappointed at all. -Rick

Glad to hear you're happy with your m-8. Its about time Harley caught up to new but old technology. If anyone doesn't know George Bryce of star power racing check out his website he's building 200 hp m-8's already.

I bought a ‘17 M8 RoadKing in early July ‘17. Loved all 7,500 miles I put on it. Traded it on a new ‘17 EG Ultra Limited in September ‘18. I wanted the extra features in the Limited. 10,000 miles of smiles now on the Limited.

Add me to the 2017 M8 crew who bought in 2016......on the last day of that year actually.

Stock for the first 10,000km then Bassani header, 447 cam, HB and 4’ Rineharts - dyno tuned by the illustrious Fred, ProCycle Dyno using the old SE Pro Tuner....98HP/119ft/lbs @3400rpm.

No engine or trans issues whatsoever. Warranty saw me with replaced speedo (twice) and both front rotors. That’s it. It’s a keeper. Hands down the favourite out of all the bikes I’ve owned.

I won a '17 SG in a raffle from a local dealer in March '17, I immediately traded it on a new '17 RG, it has a born on date of 08/23/16, engine's still bone stock except for external vent,
warranty is up at the end of this month and It's very tempting to go big bore as it's easy to make good power from these engines, but this is my long haul bike and I'm enjoying the hell out of it as is, I have other bikes to make noise and cut up with.
With comfort mods and a upgraded audio, this thing eats miles, sitting at a little over 31,000 miles on it now, doing another 7k trip on it in June.
I even picked up a no-mile, complete '18 SG 107 top end, heads, cam and lifters at a ridiculously low price, that's my extended warranty ha ha.

Traded my 2016 RGU for a 2017 RGU because I wanted the M8. 24,000 on it and a sidecar now doing just fine. I think the sidecar blew the warranty thing at least part of the way out the door. Was never concerned.

I bought 2 in 2016 lol..My 17 Streetglide purchased labor day weekend which lets just say had a couple of issues that Harley finally took care of by replacing the bike with my 17 Road Glide special in November. I have ridden the Road Glide for 16k and never looked back...simply love the bike..The Streetglide I really only had at home about 5 days total as it was in the shop the entire time I owned it..get this the Road Glide has never been in! Runs like a raped ape..M8..I will own another bet on that..

Thanks for the post, I have the 2017 FLTRXS with about 6100 miles - just bought the Stage III kit but not sure when I will get it installed. I've been a little concerned with all the talk about sumping with the stage engines and warranty concerns. I'm really pleased with the current performance of the engine but the gains seen with these stage kits is appealing.
