Default Taking my m8 to S&S 124

Started taking my 2017 Road Guild apart this weekend to install the 124 kit. I will be splitting the case apart and sending the crank to Dark Horse to have it trued and pined and shave the counter balance system shaved out. I will post more as we move forward. If you don't do the crank this is really a bolt on system that will not break the bank

if your going threw splitting the case why not put the 4.5 stroke crank in and make it a 128

The 900.00 for the crank 600.00 to pin and true is not worth it to me for the extra 4 cubes to me.

Very cool project! What’s the rationale behind removing the counter balance?

It's just extra weight that is not needed if the crank is trued and balanced IMO

Balancing a crank isn’t going to stop the vibration from a V-twin motor. I had Dark Horse blue print my crank in my 124” M8 and we left the balancer in he just welded the gear that spins the counter balancer.

How did you like it after it was done ? Vibration of a HD motor has never been an issue for me from my pan to the M8 the vibration has never been an issue to men just thought it was not need and extra weight that could be taken out.
now you have me rethinking my choice.

The blue printed / balanced motor is extremely smooth from idle to red line. They saw no need to remove the gear driven counter balancer and I’m glad I didnt
