Transmission Primary Lube Migration

What a bummer...Our brand new 2019 CVO Limited has the lube transfer issue. I just did the first 1000 mile service (at 1542 miles...) and the transmission only had 8 ounces where the Primary had 45 oz. Not an exact amount of transfer, but the primary shouldn't be in the oil producing business. Called the dealer service dept and they said to call HD customer service...HD customer service said to take it back to the dealer...Typical freaking circle jerk. Dealer service says the MoCo just drills the primary case and installs a vent to break the vacuum from the transmission.

Sure seems like someone would have caught this issue during pre-run trials in three years of M8 production. I can see this not an issue that will be resolved in short order, probably dragging out for months.

Congrats for the 100th thread for the same issue!!!!

Well thanks you ERT for reminding me! I'm sure glad you have my back...it's a scary internet out there...
Oh, sorry for my bad German.

My 2019 doing it too. My 2017 did not transfer on ounce in 20,000 miles. I was proactive with the 2019 and had the dealer record the trans fluid before I took delivery. Now when 1,000 mile service is done this week the transfer will be documented. Tech said the HD primary vent kit can now be installed by shop techs and not special techs sent by MOCO.
I've been reading about this for 2 years and figured I got lucky with my 2017 and was hoping for the same with my 2019.

That straight up sucks. More reason for me to keep my 2017. The fluid levels stay the same from change to change.

I got this

It sucks having to have to deal with that on a $45,000 dollar bike or a $28,000 bike. Trust me HD wouldn't care if it was a $80,000 bike. Hope it all works out and if you are legally protected in your state
be prepared to sue them. That's all they understand. So far I'm on my second one with no issue yet,but I do check more than any models before.

Where's our local kool aid drinker (code for FIGJAM) who always claims one million miles of M8 testing that didn't catch what numerous customers have found in less than a thousand ???? On the THIRD model year no less.

Shameful

Probably voided your drivetrain warranty by exceeding the 1000 mile service interval by 50%.

One can only hope.... as you mentioned, the MoCo has known about this for 3 years and the MoCo still does not have a 100% fix for this yet....

The only fix I've heard about that has worked all the time, is the aftermarket, fat clutch rod......

I hope they get you up and running in no time....
